The the Taihu Lake Lake National Wetland Park is located in the west of the "Paradise on Earth" urban area of Suzhou, with the Taihu Lake Lake to the west, Dongzhu Lake to the east, Guangfu Lake to the south, and Zhenhu Lake, the "hometown of Chinese embroidery". The investment subject of the project construction is the Suzhou High tech Zone Management Committee, with a total investment of 388 million yuan and a total area of about 2.3 square kilometers, approximately 3450 acres. In 2006, the Administrative Committee of the High tech Zone established the the Taihu Lake Lake Wetland Park Construction Headquarters. From 2006 to 2009, the financial investment was 388 million yuan, which was mainly used to complete the park greening project, bridges, roads, municipal infrastructure and other infrastructure construction. A number of projects with market appeal, such as the Giant Panda Science Museum, were built, and tourism supporting facilities, such as the tourist service center, parking lot, office area, commerce, catering, ticketing system and the park transportation system, were improved.
On February 21, 2010, the park was officially opened to the public and was named one of the first national wetland parks in China in 2011. On the basis of highlighting "nature, ecology and wild interest", the park fully integrates landscape, science popularization, leisure, recreation and other elements, and comprehensively displays the natural ecological landscape of modern water pastoral and the unique ecological and cultural landscape of the Taihu Lake Lake basin. It is the first eco-tourism scenic spot in Suzhou integrating national wetland park and AAAA level tourist attractions.
